High potential and gifted education

Every student has high potential in one or more areas or. The school's small size see's Breadalbane Public School well positioned as highly responsive to create learning experiences for individualised student growth. Our programs are designed to identify and develop giftedness across multiple domains, reflecting the Department’s emphasis on catering to the whole child. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Our approach focuses on four key domains:

Creative Domain: We provide opportunities for students to develop innovative thinking and artistic expression, encouraging originality and problem-solving through diverse creative activities.

Intellectual Domain: We challenge students with enriched learning experiences that promote higher-order thinking, deep inquiry, and advanced knowledge across the curriculum.

Physical Domain: Recognising the importance of physical development, we support students in enhancing their coordination, health, and physical skills through targeted activities and sports.

Social-Emotional Domain: We prioritise the emotional wellbeing and social development of gifted students, fostering resilience, self-awareness, and positive relationships to help them thrive within our school community.

Breadalbane's teachers identify potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

The Realising Individual Student Excellence (RISE) program is a collaboration between school staff and is delivered on site and with our partner schools. It combines HPGE, Student Voice, The K-12 Career Learning Framework, Student Case Management, and Entrepreneurial Mindsets and Qualities. RISE develops individual student profiles which map-out student potentiality and plan HPGE development opportunities. RISE tracks progress on the live, collaborative, digital data wall to deliver targeted and responsive challenge and enrichment to all students.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Guitar and ensemble programs cater for all levels of ability from K-6 and one to one tuition sees students learn at their own pace. Students have the responsibility and the agency to learn at their own pace. This provides a highly motivating factor as learners attain mastery at each level.

Self paced learning occurs in touch typing, Matific problem solving, Reading Eggs and reading Eggspress platforms so students can learn to take charge and take their learning further

Minecraft education creative is a collaborative space where students can have the creative and engineering control where the possibilities are endless. Lesson design explores multiple concepts in different learning areas to facilitate an alternative method to present student understanding.
