Kreative Koala Sustainability Project

We participated in the Kreative Koala - Design a Bright Future Competition.  Students decided that recycling would be the focus of our project. 

We conducted a rubbish audit and discovered that on an average day we generate

• 516 grams of paper waste
• 402 grams of recycling
• 265 grams of food scraps and
• 30 grams of other non-recyclable waste

We instigated separate paper recycling bins for the classroom and office and set up a new worm farm with 500 worms to munch through our food scraps and make some fantastic fertiliser for our vegetable garden.

The final stage of our project was to paint our fibreglass koala in line with our project and the positive changes we have made at our school towards building a sustainable future.   We think he looks fantastic.
